Description

ABSTRACT

Organic materials are often found in the environment and are not used properly so they can pollute the environment. Chicken eggshells are one of the household organic materials that are very often found in the home environment. The eggshell composition has a high content of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) and several other nutrients that the soil needs for plant growth. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the effect of eggshell as a liquid organic fertilizer on the growth, yield and quality of Pak choi vegetables. There are two treatments used in this study, which are eggshell liquid organic fertilizer (T1) and without using fertilizer as a control (T2). The research design used in this study is a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications for each type of treatment. Significant differences were determined using Statistical Analysis System (SAS) analysis and mean differences using the "Least Significant Difference" (LSD) test. Eggshells are washed clean and dried. The eggshells have been ground and put into a barrel filled with water. Then mixed well and stored in a dark place for 1 month. Based on the research that has been done, the leaf area parameter shows a significant difference which is ≤ 0.05. Therefore, it was found that treatment 1 (T1) was better than treatment 2 (T2) for Pak choi leaf area. In addition, the parameters of plant height and the number of leaves show a significant difference which is ≤ 0.05. Based on the parameters of plant height and the number of leaves, it was found that treatment 1 (T1) is better than treatment 2 (T2) because the nutrients in the eggshell organic fertilizer can help the Pak choi vegetable to increase the height of the plant as well as increase the number of leaves. The parameters of plant wet weight and plant dry weight show a significant difference which is ≤ 0.05. On this parameter, treatment 1 (T1) is better than treatment 2 (T2) because eggshell organic fertilizer is able to increase the growth of Pakchoi vegetables. In conclusion, the use of eggshell organic fertilizer is effective for the growth, yield and quality of Pakchoi vegetables.
