The International Earth Sciences UMS-ITS Joint Symposium 2026
The Faculty of Science & Technology (FST) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the Faculty of Civil, Planning, and Geo Engineering (FTSPK) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) are pleased to announce the convening of The International Earth Sciences UMS-ITS Joint Symposium 2026. This symposium serves as a dedicated academic forum focused on the evolving dynamics of the Earth’s physical environments.
The proceedings are centred upon the theme: "Adaptive Strategies for Changing Geological Landscapes". The symposium critically examines the nexus between physical geology, engineering, and environmental sustainability.
The scientific programme is anchored by keynote addresses concerning the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks to enhance natural hazard management within the Malaysian context. Presentations will rigorously interrogate empirical case studies and advanced analytical methodologies. By synthesising these multidisciplinary findings, the symposium aims to establish robust, adaptive frameworks for mitigating the impacts of structural geological shifts, managing acute geohazards, and advancing sustainable resource management
