Abstract
AI-Enhanced Simulator For Strand Selection Using Riasec Model is a desktop-based Decision Support System (DSS) developed to assist Grade 10 students of Dr. Yanga’s Colleges, Inc. (DYCI) in selecting an appropriate senior high school academic strand. Addressing the persistent issue of strand mismatch, the system integrates a RIASEC-based interest assessment grounded in Holland’s Theory of Career Choice with immersive 3D virtual simulations of DYCI’s actual laboratories. The application features AI-driven non-player characters (NPCs) that simulate career inquiries and provide contextualized information about the STEM, ABM, HUMSS, ICT, TVL, and Maritime tracks. Anchored on an Input-Process-Output (IPO) framework, the system processes students’ O*NET-aligned RIASEC results through a mapping algorithm and AI engine developed using Unity and C#, generating personalized strand recommendations alongside experiential virtual exploration.
The study employed a quantitative descriptive research design involving 60 purposively selected Grade 10 students. Evaluation instruments were based on ISO/IEC 25010:2023 software quality standards and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), utilizing a 5-point Likert scale. Results revealed very high ratings in functional suitability (4.40) and perceived usefulness (4.52), indicating strong system reliability, usability, and decision-support effectiveness. Findings further demonstrated that AI-Enhanced Simulator For Strand Selection Using Riasec Model enhanced students’ clarity, confidence, and engagement in strand selection compared to traditional career guidance approaches.
The study concludes that AI-enhanced virtual simulation integrated with psychometric assessment significantly improves informed decision-making among secondary learners. AI-Enhanced Simulator For Strand Selection Using Riasec Model serves as an innovative, ethically grounded model for technology-driven career guidance, supporting institutional goals of personalized excellence and holistic student development.
