Description

This research examines how demographic variables—specifically gender, and ethnicity —influence the psychological well-being (PWB) of NGO volunteers. It also assesses the impact of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) on PWB. Data were gathered from 379 NGO volunteers in Sabah, comprising 166 males (43.8%) and 213 females (56.2%), and analyzed using SPSS version 29. The statistical analyses employed included independent sample t-tests, ANOVA, and simple linear regression. Findings reveal that gender, and ethnicity do not significantly affect PWB, whereas age group shows a significant influence. Additionally, EQ was found to have a notable positive effect on PWB. These results underscore the crucial role of emotional intelligence in enhancing the psychological well-being of volunteers. Future research is recommended to explore additional factors that may contribute to improving volunteers’ mental health.
