Semen quality traits such as semen volume, sperm gross and individual motility, sperm concentration, viability (% of live and dead sperm) and color are very important, since they can determine the fertility potential of the semen. The objective of this study was to compare age (27 and 33 weeks) and body weight normal (4.0-4.5kg), underweight (<3.5kg), and overweight(>5kg) on the semen quality traits of Ross broiler breeder. There was significant difference in fresh semen parameters between age and body weight (normal, underweight, and overweight). The results indicated a substantial impact of body weight on semen volume (P<0.05), with overweight birds demonstrating the greatest semen volume in comparison to underweight and normal birds. Moreover, individual sperm motility was strongly influenced by body weight (P<0.05), with normal-weight birds exhibiting higher motility (88%) in contrast to underweight (31.67%) and overweight (27.50%) birds. Age significantly affected individual motility (P<0.05), with older birds (33 weeks) exhibiting greater motility (69.33%) compared to younger birds (41.26%) at 27 weeks. In summary, both age and body weight are essential factors influencing semen quality in Ross broiler breeders. Optimal semen qualities were noted in birds of standard body weight at 33 weeks of age, suggesting that these features should be incorporated into breeding management strategies to enhance reproductive performance.
