Description

The growing concern for the environment, resources, and social sustainability has given rise to the concept of sustainable development. This approach encourages organizations to consider the well-being of all stakeholders, present and future, to secure long-term survival. In the rapidly expanding hotel industry, competition among new and existing hotels is intense, often overlooking the environmental impact of their operations. Dealing with an unpredictable market forces them to be equivalent to their competitors. This study aims to examine the relationship between green practices and business sustainability in the Malaysian hotel industry. Data were collected from 150 sustainable hotels across Malaysia. The analysis was performed with SPSS 26.0 and SMART PLS version 3.0 tools using non-probability sampling, which is purposive sampling for data collection. The findings underscore a significant relationship between green practices and the business sustainability of the hotel industry in Malaysia. These insights enrich the understanding of sustainable business practices within Malaysia’s hotel sector and offer guidance to its management and employees. The results advocate incorporating these practices into strategic planning, offering a foundation for future business strategies. Academically, the study broadens the discussion on green practices and business sustainability in the hotel industry, suggesting directions for further research to enhance these findings through broader or different investigative parameters. The importance of green practices in bolstering business sustainability in Malaysia’s hotel industry is evident, marking an area for ongoing attention and development.
