The article focuses to understand the moderating effect of self-efficacy and facilitating conditions on the behavioural intentions of young intellectuals of Malaysia to be the future muzakki. In this study, theoretical framework extracted from Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB) and Maqasid al Shariah by Abu Zaharah is applied to understand the factors associated with perceived behavioural control and intentions. The study further believes that the integration of these theories will appreciate the factors that determine young intellectuals’ intention to be a muzakki. So, though this research is one of the first attempts in this regard, it recognises some limitations in terms of the scope of theories, variables, and geographical coverage that risks or merits further research. Finally, this article presents a conceptual elaboration of exploring the impact of self-efficacy and facilitating conditions on perceived behavioural control and intentions of young intellectuals to become future muzakki and contributes to the development of the existing theoretical framework by applying a novel theoretical synthesis.
