Abstract
Purpose – This research aims to identify factors that may influence the millennials acceptance towards zakat on gold.
Design/methodology/approach – This study broadens the TRA's application to examine the factors that influence young adults’ acceptability of zakat on gold in Malaysia. Purposive sampling was employed in this study, and 242 reliable surveys from Muslim millennials were obtained as responses. The millennials were sent the questionnaire link over social media.
Findings – The study findings indicated that the TRA model might be utilised as an instrument to explain Malaysian millennial Muslims’ acceptance of zakat on gold.
Research limitations/implications – The outcomes of this study are restricted to the model's variables. However, it offers fresh insights into the developing matter of zakat on gold among young adults in Malaysia.
Practical implications – The findings might prove to be a valuable resource for Malaysian zakat organisations as they strive to devise strategies that will convince young adults gold owners of the importance of carrying out their zakat obligations.
Originality/value – The paper extends the understanding of TRA that had not been previously tested empirically in the context of zakat on gold among Malaysian millennials.
