Description

Abstract
There are many types of wall art, with graffiti and murals being the most commonly used terms. From illegal graffiti to legitimate murals, the street art scene in Sabah has been embraced by the public and has given local artists a chance to showcase their talents. Graffiti is often a way to introduce messages in a public space. In this context, the integration of Sabah imagery into contemporary wall art can highlight Sabah’s rich culture and natural beauty. This article delves into various public wall art pieces that integrate local imagery to convey cultural narratives and environmental consciousness. The components discussed are the aesthetics and effects of visual contexts in wall art and how they can contribute to sustaining and persevering with the vibrant culture of Sabah.
Keywords: wall art, graffiti, murals, Sabah, culture.
